Question:
im wondreing if tofu is a good food after surgery
noing that tofu is high in protien and low in fat and calories .but i see no mention of it on any of the diet seggestions — lilly1 (posted on November 16, 2009)

My nutritionist says yes- it is okay but right after surgery you want to
stick with the softest tofu you can find.

Absolutely--But you may want to eat it with peanut butter or a second
source of plant protein to get a complete protein. Whole grains, nuts, or
dairy would be a suitable supplement to be consumed with the tofu. By
itself, it is incomplete and the body would simply convert the protein to
energy to store later or to use at that time. You would not get the full
benefit of the protein.

Tofu is great. I used to through a hunk into my smoothies! Great protein
source with no cholesteral
