Does anyone take ADD meds after RNY surgery?

I don't take ADD meds but I take meds for Bi-polar disorder. They are big
and I just break them into. I am 2 years out in Dec. and I have always
taken them this way with no problems.

I am on Concerta XL. You cannot break this one up but it goes through the
RNY stoma just fine, it's actually smaller than the Forceval vitamins. I
have found that the Ritalin does not get fully absorbed due to
malabsorption. Therefore, I have to take a second dose about midday. I
take 72 mg on waking, and another 36mg at midday. My consultant agreed to
the change as did the psych.consultant. It makes such a difference! Talk
to your team.

I am taking Adderall (Generic) not the Extended Release as that one does
not absorb well at all but the way mine is perscribed because of the RNY is
1 20mg tablet 3 times a day. It kicks in fast but does not last the normal
6 hrs for me. I believe the usual dosage is 30mg two times a day for a
normal non RNY. Some can just use 1 day depends on your system. The other
type is daytrana (maybe mispelled) it is a patch you apply in the am and
take off at about dinner time it releases in the system slowly. I happened
to have skin irritation from the patch so I couldn't use it. By the way I
have not had the weight loss you would expect bieng on adderall but I
didn't before RNY either. Some loose weight rapidly but they are taking
excessive doses and not admitting it is my belief.
