Question:
I'm 20 months post-op. Is it safe to take colon cleaning medications?

Can you be a little more specific? What kind of colon cleansing meds are
you referring to? There are so many out on the market now a days that can
fall into this category. Ex Lax, Correctol, Miralax, herbal teas, Colace,
Phoso-soda...the list goes on and on. Certain ones should be fine but
others should not be used unless you talk to your doctor first.

Not sure what you mean by colon cleaning medications. However, I have some
periods of time where I get constipated so I have used Miralax. It's
gentle, no cramping, and dissolves nicely with no funky taste.

What did I tell you?!?!? LOL!!!! Colon Cleanse is ok to take. Just not
everyday. Only for short periods of time when you feel like your body
needs it. Many GB patients take fiber capsules everyday. If you're not
one of these people, I don't see where a cleanse tablet every once in a
while, would harm you especially if you're not taking fiber everyday. I
have to take iron tablets on a regular and they make me get
"backed-up" Therefore, I take them periodically and I feel so
much better afterwards! Smooches!!

I am not sure what you mean by colon cleansing either. My surgeon was very
specific about laxatives, stool softener, etc. 20 months out I hope to be
eating my fill of fiber with vegetables and fruits. I am 4 months out and
use Benefiber or Miralax, following manufacture directions. These are the
products approved by my surgeon. I have only use them because of
constipation.
CALL YOUR Surgeon. You do not want to create an unstable diet which could
lead to medical difficulties.
