Congratulations on your awesome weight loss. You can eat fuit as soon as your nutritionist says it is ok. I started at about 6 weeks and I peeled off the skin of any fruit I had. Also make sure to chew chew chew. I used to enjoy soft fruits at that time better. Also as for vegetables broccoli florettes not the stems you can start now if your nut says it is ok. I ate peas at 7 weeks post and I got really really sick the skin of the pea did not agree with me. I ate corn for the first time 4 1/2 months post op. As for the other question you posted before about being nauseous I made sure to drink some broth when my I felt like that it really helped me sooth my tummy. I couldn't drink cold water because I got nauseous too so room temp water helps. I was about 2 1/2 months post op when I was feeling great! I hope this helped you some. I want to wish you all the best in your journey. Cira

Sorry about that! I hit the wrong key! I was congratulating you on your fabulous weight loss. As I was saying, I'm almost 6 weeks out, too. I have a follow up on Tues. so I won't know my total weight loss till then (I refuse to have a scale in my house). I was interested to read the previous post to see about eating fruit and veg. I appreciate the info. Best of luck to you on your journey. -@li

Cira, I also was interested in finding out about the fruits and veggies. I had my surgery 8/20 and have lost 26 pounds. I have been doing very well on my soft foods but the doctor didn't say anything about avoiding veggies. I though the small, sweet little peas would be great. Well, since my surgery, that is the only thing that made me throw up. I thought I chewed them up well, but I guess those little coverings just didn't want to disolve. When determining what we can eat, how can 1 week or 2 weeks make that much difference. At some point will be be able to eat anything, just significantly smaller proportions? I have no appetite and I can eat only a tiny amount, but I do have a yearning to add new foods just so I can carry on with my life which means going out to eat with my family and friends, sometimes at the spur of a moment. I will never go back to how I used to eat. I will try and eat very healthy. I never thought the day would come when I would look forward to a salad, just to fuel my body, not to lose weight. My biggest problem of portion control has been fixed for me. I love that. I am really trying to read my body's signals to know exactly when I cannot stick one more bite in my mouth no matter how good it tastes!

I had my surgery on 8/21 and have lost 29 pounds. I have had no trouble eating pinto beans (with beano) tomatoes, bananas, salsa and peaches starting last week. The only problems I have had is really bad constipation and some pain (upper left of my belly button) when I try to walk.

My surgeon/nutritionist said to not eat vegetables until you have lost 50% of your excess weight, carbs or fruits when you have lost 75%. I stuck to that plan and lost more than they had for my goal. But now I eat whatever I want at almost 4 years out. (I am pregnant--and even eat bad things). Hopefully after I have this baby I can get back on track.
