Question:
I'm 11 months out and wondering about Carbs
Do anybody know how many grams of carbs should I be consuming. My nut told me 1200cals and 70+protein, but nothing about carbs. I'm track with everything except that. — glennk (posted on April 5, 2007)

I think you can have some carbs but I'm not sure how many...always best to
have whole grains and high fiber if you are having any.

Just remember there are 4cal in protein and carbs; 9 in fat. So 70 times 4
is 280 calories of that 1200 is protein- although depending on your age and
procedure you had done- 70 grams is a little low, you might want to be a
little closer to 90. I had gastric bypass and on 60 grams was losing my
badly- (I am 50) and have to have at least 90 grams of protein to keep my
hair nice. I try to keep my fat under 25 grams although I am not as
concerned with it. Just remember the type of carb you eat is the most
important. Try to stay with low glycemic especially if you are not at goal.
Non glycemic carbs will give you an increase in appetite and a desire for
more carbs! Your brain needs some carbs to function. This is what I have
learned of a lifetime of diets and finding out what works for me. There are
many places to get professional help- but get a dietician or nutritionist
you feel you can trust. For me- alot of them have alot of old information
and it doesn't always help us. Listen to what your body tells you. Good
luck.

guidelines after weight loss surgery" and came up with many hits from
mayo clinic, etc for what is recommended. good luck
