There is an OSSG-osteoporosis list. Although I have steadily refused to
take Fasomax (pouch burner), there may be some other things you can do for
your osteoporosis. If you take it, just be aware of the dangers it has for
us. This is the only link I have:

I have been taking fosamax for over a year now. I take 5 mg. every day, and
I do not have ANY problems with it. In fact, I recently had a bone mineral
scan and showed an improvement in my bone mass. Talk to your doctor about
exactly how important it is for you to take the fosamax. Have you been
diagnosed with osteoporosis already? If so, how bad is it? Sure, there are
disadvantages or possible side effects from any medications, but if you
truly need fosamax, having had RNY shouldn't keep you from taking it. I had
my RNY in Dec. 2000. (By the way, the osteoporosis is not from the RNY, it
is from long term use of steroids.) If you want to ask me about it, please
feel free to email me at [email protected] Good luck. Maria
