Question:
Is there anyone who can still drink milk.

I still drink milk. I have a 10-12 oz glass every morning with my vitamins and pills.

I also drink milk. Not necessarily on a regular basis, but I do have milk in my coffee and with cereal, along with an occasional glass of milk. Not a problem.

I drink milk almost daily with my Cheerios. No problems whatsoever.

I'm lucky to be able to have milk everyday. In fact I'm 9 weeks post op and rely on milk and dairy products to get the majority of my protein in as I still am having problems digesting meats. I hear some people turn lactose intolerant post-op but (knock on wood) I have not had that problem.

I don't have any adverse reactions to milk or any dairy product. Although lactose intolerance IS a possible outcome of any WLS surgery, I think a lot of people aren't necessarily lactose intolerant if they have a bad reaction to milk/dairy immediately post-op. The reaction could be caused by a host of other factors. So, if it does happen, just stay off dairy for awhile and then gradually introduce it to see what happens. I started off with LACTAID in my protein shakes, etc. and drank a lot of soy milk (still do)... I don't know if this helped or not, but I now drink whole, skim, cream - you name it - and I'm over four months post-op. :) All the best, (lap BPD/DS with gallbladder removal, January 25, 2001)

oddley enough , Right after surgery I could drink a little skim milk without a bad reaction. Then at about 3 months post op I became lactose intolerant . I use Lactaid skim milk now with no problem. Also I can use cream in my coffee with no adverse reaction. But ice cream (or ice milk), even without sugar kills me. Go figure?!

I *can* drink milk, but choose not to. I was practically ADDICTED to it prior to surgery, could drink half gallon a day, easily (even more!). So, I stay away from it because of that. I don't get dumping syndome with sweets or chocolate either. I wanted dumping because I am ADDICTED to chocolate also. I try to stay away from it, but sometimes I fail and have a little... Good luck!

Yes! No problems before OR after surgery. No problems with milk at all.
