I was approved by Medicare last week. What can I expect to happen next?

I was approved by Medicare last week. I wanted to know what is the next step. I got the phone call stating that I was approved and that was it. What can I expect to happen next?    — Destiny79 (posted on April 23, 2010)

In my case I got approved in Jan 2009 had surgery March 2009! U have to have a psych eval.

I think different surgeons/programs do it differently. In my case, I had to do all pre-op testing first (sleep study, nutritionist visit, physicial supervised diet, psych eval, gall bladder ultrasound and a ecg? heart test) After I complete all of that, they will submit me to medicare. if i am approved, we will schedule a date for surgery.

After I was approved, I began/still going to a series of groups. Namely: substance abuse risk group, 4 wks of group preparing me for surgery ie. keeping a food journal, slowing down ect. I meet with a nutritionist (who I need to see two more times before she approves me. I took a psychological test and meet with a psychologist ect. I believe I am being prepared for my weight lost journey, and though i want to be thin yesterday, i know this will come in handy. Good luck you.
