Question:
In order to lose weight now at 7 years post-op (7 lbs), do I use conventional methods

I don't eat full meals, so I generally don't consume many calories. What do I need to do to lose these 7 lbs, that I have gained. Am not sure that my metabolism is such that eating weight watchers style would work.    — Butterfly2002 (posted on October 15, 2009)

You could cut carbs, sugar and caffeine out. That is a start if you try this it should bump up your metabolism, bump up your water and excercise. The stores do have meals that are like lean cuisine, etc that are low in sodium, calories, fat etc and you could benefit from these, as they aren't too big. They are actually a serving size.

I am 5 years post-op and have gained a little weight. I started doing weight watchers and have lost about 9 pounds in 1 month. Doing weight watchers you can still always remember to do protein first, get your water, and exercise. After you have eaten all your points then you can't eat anymore for that day. I wish you well. The biggest key to losing those 7 pounds is to write down everything that you eat. Stay within your calorie goals and the weight will come off. Add some exercise. Good luck

Along with cutting back on simple carbohydrates with a high glycemic index, make sure half of each meal consists of protein. An increase in exercise will help raise your metabolism even when you are at rest. If you haven't been exercising very much, you'll probable not loose weight initially due to the fact that muscle weighs more than fat. Just hang in there, and the weight should come off. The suggestion about a food and exercise log is a GREAT idea. Research has shown that it really works. If you haven't lost weight after 1 1/2 or 2 months, show your log to your surgeon and/or dietitian. Sometimes, you restrict your diet so much, that your body goes into starvation mode and that lowers your metabolism. Adding some fruit or other healthy snack each day may be all that is needed to give your metabolism a jump-start. I hope that helps. God Bless.
