Question:
Taking prilosec

I am 6 weeks out and the dr went yesterday to do an enlargement of my opening out of my new stomach. My question is i am still belching and have a bad taste when i do belch. I have heard that was from acid reflux. If so does anyone think taking prilosec without dr approval ok?. i am sick of having this belching and bad taste. dont feel like eating or drinking because i am going to belch. Sorry about that, my finger hit two buttons at once... Anyway as I was trying to type I have had the acid reflux disease for over a dozen years, I'm taking the purple pill (Nexium). Still waiting for my surgery. For you the best bet is talk to your PCP or surgeon. They know best. Or better yet, get the advise from both! Good luck & let us know, will you?

I had the sleeve done and when I was 8 weeks out, the doctor said Prilosec OTC is fine.

Hi Nikki, per my DR & group after RNY (I'm 14 mths out) we will be on some type of med for our stomach as we no longer have the amount of acid in there to digest foods. I take a melt in mouth PREVACID every morning and wil be fore the rest of our lives.

My daughter is 3 months out and they have her on prilosec. Said they will have her on it for the first year...said some people have had bleeding ulcers...they think from people taking back up smoking, but aren't sure...I took nexium for first 6 months after mine..I am 15 months out. Hope this helps!
