Question:
I have a problem eating pecans - (straight from the shell) about 10-12 halves.

I started at 3 weeks out eating pecan halves. I know they have lots of fat. Has anyone else done this? I am getting them out the house, they are usually part of my holiday decor, fruit, candy and nuts.    — ShowStopper .. (posted on November 17, 2007)

Nuts are difficult for some bariatric patients to eat. They can cause dumping, or if they are not chewed well enough, can cause a temporary blockage. I know my surgeon said the only nut he would recommend (in moderation) were almonds. I get the raw almonds from Trader Joe's and eat about 15-20 at a time, once every day or two. I occasionally eat cashews from Trader Joe's also, but I get the cashew pieces, that are lightly salted, and place them in a small custard cup to gage to portion control. Neither cashews or almonds give me any problems, but I don't eat them by the handful either.

Hi! I was told to avoid all dry fruits and whole seeds and nuts because they can get stuck in my pouch and also contribute to dehidration. Be carefull!, Margarita
