Question:
New 3 oz liquid with 25 grams protein

NEW IDS Liquid Protein Vials I've been a member here for over four years and I have seen several questions about some product that would provide 25 or so grams of protein in a small drink or one bite. When I was ordering my monthly protein shake today from DPSnutrition.com I found this on the front page. I have no connection with DPS or this product, but this should answer years of questions. Hello: can you tell me How good is the (NEW IDS Liquid Protein Vials)? Anita

Anita, I have no idea how good it is. I am pretty much housebound so have plenty of time to mix up my Chocolate Whey Stack with lots of ice and take my time (thirty minutes) to enjoy it. There was some talk on the Protein Group about it being like sour Jello, but I guess it is one of those things you have to try yourself. Maybe you could write and ask for a free sample -- all they can do is say no! Nina in Maine

I have just ordered those off of bariatriceating.com but at a much higher cost. I did get the trial of 4 (2 of each flavor) for $13. I am excited to taste them and will let everyone know of my ratings of the product.

I found the product at http://www.fitnessfirstusa.com/details.asp?item=9706 for the price listed in the original post. They have two flavors: Blue Raspberry and Fruit Punch.

I ordered a case of it, since it was so expensive. I figured I could drink it while on full liquids. I have tried it and its not bad. I drank it warm the first time. They are kinda sweet sour, and easy to drink 3 ounces. And its not an empty drink, like crystal lite. I will ask the dietician at my preop meeting.

If you order a product much like this, called Profect (you can find it at www.protica.com), you will get 25 grams of protein in 2.9 oz of fruit flavored liquid. They're only 100 calories each, no carbs, no sugar, etc and they're DELICIOUS. They don't taste sour or protein-like. They're a good alternative to the bland chocolate protein mixes and they come in the unbreakable vials so you can throw them in your purse or take on vacation with you, etc. I love them!

A member sent me a private email aout where I found these for this price. If you go to www.dpnutrition.com and scroll down a little bit you will find their ad. I've been getting my protein powder from them for over three years and their service is excellent. I'm just a haappy customer; no financial ties to them. Nina in Maine

At Protica.com you get flavors for $11.96 and you can also get 15% off, there's a code for it on the main screen. I ordered a sample pack, but I will until I am post-op to try it.

Collagen proteins are inexpensive to produce (ask the manufacturer what the source of the protein is). But the body uses the essential amino acids in a certain proportion, and in that regard, collagen proteins have a poor mix of amino acids...so as a protein source, they are low quality. So the protein value to you--to your body--is potentially as low as 1/3 of optimal. The secondary proteins allow a claim of complete protein. But ask the manufacturer what the proportions are. Hey gang! Ordered the grab 4 (2) fruit punch and (2) blue raspberry from bariatriceating. The subtotal was $12.00 w/shipping ($6.51) with total $18.51. Arrived quickly. Not bad and quick to comsume. Split w/a co-worker. Went on-line and ordered from DPS nutrition (dpsnutrition.net) w/cheaper prices. There was a 'special' for 3 or more for $22.95. The on-line order went through for $23.95, but didn't break down the 2-fruit and 2-raspberry for the lower price. I called their toll-free number (800-697-4969), waited a fair bit, but spoke to Cust. Svc. they are re-submitting for the $22.95 per 12 pack. Should take 2-3 bus. days. Both my co-worker and I were tired of the fatkins shakes. We chilled the New Whey Liquid Protein fruit drinks and drank them down (I did add ice-and drank it down). Good to mix up the intake from shakes to this 'fruit' drink. Mickie M.
