Question:
Re bowel movements

I am 6 days post op. Yes I'm on a liquid diet, if you call mashed potatoes and cream soup liquid diet. Trying to figure out the right way to get all the protien and calories. Anyway question is about bowel movements. I had myh first yesterday evening. It was liquid and gassy I almost didn't make it cuz I thought it was gas. This has continued till today for aproximately 5 bathroom trips. Is this normal or is this the dumping thing?    — Fit_after50 (posted on May 16, 2011)

They say liquids in and liquids out. It'll get better when u get more solid food in ur stages

Yep that's pretty normal. I am 2 years post RNY and I still do not pass solid BM's....always soft and usually 2-3 a day. As for your protein...Unjury has an unflavored protein I used with my mashed potatoes; creamed soups etc and it would bump my servings to greater than 15 grams and the best part is that the flavor of the regular food isn't changed. Good luck and welcome to the loser's bench !!!!

for about the first 2 weeks it was it was that way for me, "when in doubt dont push it out", or it may just run down your leg, stick to the plan, no matter how much you want to eat something dont,

It will be 5 years for me, and I still cannot go the normal way. I sometimes have to wait 7 to 10 days before I can go.. Not sure why, maybe because II do not eat the way I should, I eat very little, no water, no mild, and no juice. I do drink Diet Orange Soda, a small bottle for the whole day. Still cannot eat Chop Meat, Chicken,Eggs, White Bread, anything else really, but Cheese still worked for me. Everything else hurts when I eat. I have no problem with Eggplant Parm.

Thank goodness your bowels are moving. I know it's not the best feeling in the world but things iron and get better. Its better that you have movement then having to force movement. Best Wishes.
