Three after my surgery I think, but I am not sure, but I was allowed only to
eat pureeded protein shakes. I didn't eat too much, just try to get your
protein in.

Vanessa, I am not a bypass patient! I had a DS. However, I can tell you I
am 6 weeks out of surgery and the uncomfortable feeling is gone. We have
two completely different surgeries so I do not know if it will be the same
for you. I do k ow you should be concentrating on your protein right now
and fluids! Do not let yourself get dehydrated.

I had bypass surgery just one year ago now and I remember having a hard
time eating right away so I just ate my protein shakes and some soups,
fruit etc...now I can eat most anything but I still focus on my protein or
meat, then fruits and veggies...it does go away...

I was put on a liquid diet for 2 weeks after my RNY. I could only have
broth those 2 weeks, with that, I chose to drink Isopure Protein drinks.
3rd week, I could have pureed soups, yogurt, cottage cheese, Taco Bell
refried beans (soft food stage). I had a hard time too, so I mostly drank
my protein drink and protein shakes. I didn't venture out to the yogurts
because of the discomfort I was experiencing. It goes away, your stomach
is healing and will be for quite sometime - although the actual discomfort
you feel now will subside - soon.

Vanessa -
1. Talk to your surgeon!!! you need a diagnosis!!! YOu may be trying to
progress to solid foods too fast or too much food too fast or to much spice
too fast or ???. It may also be more serious such as your antiacid isn't
working for you and you need a different one or you have a problem with the
surgical site internally or ??? I can't stress enough that you need to talk
to your surgeon and get very specific on what type of discomfort and when
with him/her. Good luck and keep us posted. Please talk to your surgeon
today!

Ask your surgeon, I am near 10 years out this summer, and as long as I dont
overeat I am fine. Eat too much too fast and I am reminded of my surgery.
BY FAR THE BEST DECISION I EVER MADE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!

My RNY was 1 1/2 yrs ago, but I am still having some discomfort if I eat
too much or have too many sweets. I have found that if I lay down for 1/2
hr I am much more comfortable and the feeling goes away. I think it is
gravity that is the problem. I am retired so can lay around. Good luck.
