i think as a general rule most snacks should be something that has more
protein than carbs-- i would say chips and crackers are out-- they pretty
much turn into dust and go right through your pouch. a better snack would
be some actual CHEESE (i prefer low fat but that is me), some rolled up
deli meat (lean ham, turkey, or chicken), some grilled chicken breast or
even some beef jerky or some almonds. also be mindful-- do not take the
whole bag-- measure out a serving and then only eat that. you should be
satisfied at that point until your next mealtime.

Just read labels carefully. Low sugar, low carb; low fat but high in
protein and fiber is good......remember that the sugar, carbs and fat are
what got us here in the first place.....you need 40-60 grams of good
protien a day to keep you healthy. Not to mention the B-12, multivit and
calcium daily.Hope this helps......good luck.

Cheese is fine but can block you up. Crackers are a no.

So far you've gotten GREAT advice.
If, however, once in a blue moon, you have an overwhelming urge for a
cracker, or it is served as a choice at a party, choose a whole grain
cracker and limit yourself to no more than 6. For Wheat Thins, that would
be about 70 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 1 gram of fiber, and 1 gram of
protein. You can see that there is not much nutrition, so even if cheese
and meat is offered, just skip the crackers.
If you're craving something crunchy and sweet or crunchy and salty, look at
BariatricChoice.com. They have a product called "WonderSlim Snack
Bites" that are similar to potato chips in taste and texture, but have
12 grams of protein. Their Pretzels, Protein Chips (like potato chips and
in different flavors)and cheddar cheese Kruncheeze have 10 grams of
protein.
SmartForme.com has some similar snack items, including one that has small,
round, chocolate flavored balls that are crunchy. If I remember right,
they have either 9 or 15 grams of protein. These snacks all come in
individually wrapped, one serving size packages. It's not something you'd
want to do on a regular basis, but for those occasional times, when you
might eat something like chips that are totally lacking any nutritional
value, you might as well have a snack that tastes similar, but has protein
in it.
For the average day, stick with a meat and hard cheese or a measured out
amount of nuts for a snack. They satisfy you sooner, and keep you full
longer. I hope that helps. God Bless.

my rd says to eat wheat thin fiber selects 4 or 5 1 hour before working
out. that might be a good idea for you. she also suggests that if you eat
a craker make sure that its whole wheat and that the fiber is higher than
the sugars. there are lots out the with no or very low sugar. good luck.
