Question:
What is the best liquid vitamin to take after surgery?
Ok. I am having surgery in 2 months and I want to start taking a really good vitamin. I have seen on here where lots of people are take a liquid vitamin because it absorbs better for the bypass patients. Can someone please let me know the name of the liquid vitamin. Thanks SO much. — jackie L. (posted on September 18, 2008)

Liquid vitamins can run between $20 to $60 per month. I've used 3 brands.
Vemma, the most expensive, had less vitamin levels than the lesser
expensive. I write about liquid vitamins on my profile and blog pages. You
can also PM me if you have additional questions. I've use liquid vitamins
for most of the 28 months since my RNY surgery. DAVE

The most powerful "liquid" vitamin / mineral supplement is VEMMA.
Has 12 full-spectrum vitamins in antioxidant base of whole fruit
mangosteen along with aloe vera and decaffeinated organic "green
tea". Includes 1000 IU of vitamin D3, most of any supplement.
Contains 65 major trace and ultra-trace ionic plant-sourced
"minerals". Will raise antioxidant level of blood by
10%,double-blind studies to show this.

I can't find a liquid that has everything I need for the hefty price they
put on the bottle for less vitamins than are in my chewable Centrum for
adults at $7-10 a bottle (3 month supply) versus $25-30 for 15-30 day
supply) I have to take two doses of the liquids to get most of what's in
Centrum Adult Chewables. Many of the liquids also add all kinds of herbal
stuff too, which is fine but there is not enough research on herbals and
their long term effects or how they react with other vits and meds! I have
no trouble with the potency of the Centrum...but when I swallow a liquid
vit,(Even thought the vit doses are smaller) it burns the holy heck outta
my pouch and I have to either eat of drink with it...and I want my vits to
sit in my stomach and absorb as long as they can...But I have to wash them
out and I don't know how much of that expensive stuff is actually absorbed
when I must drink something right away...SO...Chewing an adult vit that
turns to liquid is afar better and cost efficient means of getting a
vitamin...I was malnourished and doing fine now that I am taking my vits
very relgiously...I supplement oil soluble vits (A, E, D and K) with the
dry powder forms in addition to a Centrum...and I still take Iron with Vit
C... Calcium Citrate, B-12 and a B-100 (weekly)....So my vitamins cost
quite a bit, but my health is near perfection! It's worth it after being
so sick! I do not believe there is a perfect multi vit liquid or otherwise
out there, because some vits are not friendly or friendly with
eachother...AND...you still have to supplement some vits
anyway...FOREVER...It gets expensive and it really doesn't need to be THAT
expensive, but it's totally up to you...You will still need supps on top of
the liquid!

A good alternative and probably less expensive then liquid vitamins are
chewables. I use Bariatric Advantage as my supplement (multi-vitamin) +
some other supplements as well based upon my blood work. I was able to use
these immediately after my lap RNY. You can check them out on the net.
Here is the website: http://www.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog
They specialize in vitamin solutions for bariatric patients. Best of luck!

I haven't had the surgery yet, but I've heard that Centrum chewable
vitamins are good, also there is a liquid Centrum that is supposed to be
pretty good.

I use Passion4Life liquid vitamins. The smell isn't great, but the taste
is. Of all the liquid vitamins i've tried, this one tastes the best.
