Hi. Re # of carbs per protein supplement serving: the number I've heard
from my nutritionist and others is 2 grams or less. That can be hard, as
some have many, many more. Realistically, IMHO, I would think under 5
would be acceptable. As far as number of calories per day... that's really
a tough question. My literature given to me pre-op said 500-600 from about
8 weeks out. That seems awfully low, since at least 250 of that will come
from protein supplements alone. I'll be interested to see what others have
to say about this. Good luck! JK, RN

If you pop onto the comparision page at my site, there is a good thumbnail
view of grams of protein per grams of carbs. This is made with water, of
course. But one 30g protein drink (with water) should be less than 200 cal
(give or take), deliver 30g protein and less than 5g sugar. The other carbs
don't matter as you need a few complex carbs to make the protein work.

RE: Number of calories... I was always taught that a body needed 800-900
calories to perform all of it's functions properly. That when you get below
that, it slows down the metabolism and burns what you do intake even slower
(aka- eating way less does not mean better weight loss).
