Hi,
Before you start searching for a trial, most insurance companies state they
won't cover weight loss surgery, which they won't unless deemed medically
necessary. So if you have any co-morbidities ex:sleep apnea, diabetes,
high cholestrol, acid reflux, all these conditions are life threatening.
So check with a doctor and be tested, then you just might be surprised that
your insurance will pay for it. In every policy there is an exclusion, but
you can work around the exclusion. They just don't want people having the
surgery unless a medical doctor says you really need it. You might have to
submit the paperwork and fight for approval or maybe not. I got one denial
but that was due to lack of information. Hope this helps, and best wishes
to you.

Sometimes there is just a written exclusion between the employer and the
insurance company also this was my problem and even though it was medically
necessary they still woulnd't do squat. i have high blood pressure and
diabetes... however we were luck enough to save the money to go self-pay.
good luck on the free trials!

Unfortunately what Cinnamon experienced is what I see a lot of in my area.
I work at a hospital which has Anthem BC as the insurer. The hospital has
an exclusion of bariatric surgery which means that while Anthem BC covers
the surgery they do not for employees of the our hospital. I was fortunate
to be covered by my wife's insurance, she is a teacher covered by Humana,
and the school's policy did not exclude bariatric surgery if medically
neccessary so I was covered. Hopefully there will be more uniformity of
coverage with opportunity for people to gain access to surgery when
medically appropriate. Kevin
