I had my bypass on a Tues and did not have a bm until Sat nite. I did talk
to the doctor on Fri and he ask me if I was uncomfortable and I that was
not the case. He told me that I could take a over the counter stool
softener. Hope this helps's but always keep your doctor updated

i think it was 4 days after surgery and when i did go it was very loose,
foul odor, sticky and dark (almost black) because of all the old blood in
my system from surgery-it scared the sh*t out of me at first because i
didn't expect that much, but it cleared up after about 3 loose stools, good
luck and i hope this helps..Holly

It is a little differant for each person. I was expected to have a movement
before I left the hospital.

Like those before me said everyone is different. My doc says its quite
common to run up to 5-8 days. If it gets uncomfortable use milk of
magnesia, but if worried call doc. It was 8 days for me and I just had
surgury 5/21/09
Good Luck
