Some of the wonderful I met on the board whose had the sleeve
covered...they had to appeal the first denial from the insurane company or
self pay.

My insurance covered mine completely in July 2008, I have BCBS of PA. I had
to do 6 months supervised diet, not because it was a VSG, but because it
was bariatric surgery. My niece had hers done in Oct. 2008 I'm not sure of
her insurance back then, but she has Priority Health now, I know she gets
her insurance thru the hospital she works for.

I had Cigna PPO at the time they covered the RNY or the lap band but not
the sleeve. I went with self-pay. I've been noticing people have been
posting that their insurance covered their VSG this year so start looking
for those postings. I say submit the paperwork to find out for sure, if
your denied, try, try and try again. Good Luck and Best Wishes.

I am scheduled to have VSG surgery on March 25. My insurance acutally only
covers RNY and Lap band, however my doctor is letting them know I need to
have my surgery in stages and the VSG is the first stage. That is how it is
getting approved. Also that way if I need to go more aggresive I can
continue onto the RNY later if needed. I hope you are able to get approved.

BC/BS covered 100% for LapBand in 2007 and 100% for VSG a few weeks ago.
