Question:
Any men had open RNY... Does body hair help to cover the scar up?

Lol, I ain't got any. But personally I don't mind the "battle
scar". After about three years it does'nt look to bad.

I am about 6 weeks out, and I dont believe anything is going to cover the
scar. So, I am going to embrace it with a tattoo and have my surgeon sign
it.

Depends on how hairy you are. I used Mederma on my scar and it has really
helped. You can still see the red marks but it has done wonders to help
make it look better.

I had the surgery in OCt 2004.... body hair covers it well, you can barely
see the scar now.

Vincent,
My husband had open BPD/DS done July 2, 2004 (horizontal incision) and has
*some* body hair on his chest - not a ton. But, the scar has faded out
tremendously - in fact, I realized the other day that you can hardly see it
at all!
Keeping your skin adequately hydrated does help. Also, using a good
moisturizer (some people love Maderma, I loved Vitamin E and/or sesame oil
after my open BPD/DS) will help as well.
Blessings,
dina
