Question:
getting insurance to cover
From what I can tell from talking to others with my BCBS of Michigan they will cover to have skin removed from belly button down only and there is no way I can afford to have arms and thighs done which are horrible. Any suggestions in how to get covered? Anyone had any success. All suggestions appreciated and thank you in advance. — JOANNFV (posted on April 21, 2010)

First of all, no insurance will cover any skin removal unless there is
documented proof of severe skin infections from folds in the skin, or some
other medical reasoning for it. And normally, the only thing i've ever
seen insurance cover IF they cover it is a tummy tuck with no muscle
tightening. Of course, they may cover other areas, but you'd have to have
some major hanging skin under your arms to cause issues and the same with
your thighs. This is pretty much the norm for most insurance. They won't
cover anything for cosmetic purposes.
