Question:
Anybody had a thyroidectomy (including their parathyroids)?
I now take 4000 mg calcuim with D daily plus calcitrol twice a day. After RnY (Monday) what is the best "chewable" calcium you can recommend?? — meemary (posted on March 6, 2010)

Mary,
I had only one parathyroid removed in Jan. of this year. I'm due for a
biopsy of my thyroid soon. My RNY was in 2008. I use the Bariatric
Advantage Calcium Citrate Lozenges, in cinnamon. They are really good and
you can either let them dissolve or chew them. Check out the Bariatric
Advantage website. These calciums can be expensive, but my surgeon will
not let us take pills unless necessary, as too many patients have been
getting pills stuck.

You can also dissolve the Citrical w/D tablets in liquid. Early out I opted
to do this by putting them in my drink bottle. I also used a pill crusher.
