I had RNY Nov. 18 and do not have any such problems. I haven't heard or
read of that being a complication either. Best success to you.

I had my procedure done Nov 30-09, I had the loose diarrhea and
incontinence of bowel and bladder.I'm still having episodes. My solution is
Depends a good skin barrier and attempt to empty my bladder
frequently..There are times when I get the urge at nite and don't make
it..I deal with it the best I can..Lots of laundry.. Good luck

While I did not have the RNY, I had a DS, I have had some bowel issues. If
I eat a lot of carbohydrates I get more gas, most of the time it doesn't
have any odor but I also get a bit of cramping. I had terrible bowel
issues from about the first of November and tried everything over the
counter and my surgeon ended up prescribing codiene sulfate. The very
first evening I took my first dose, 10MG, I woke up and no longer had water
stools. I had water stools 8-10 times every single day the first hour or
so I was up. Then throughout the day as I ate or drank anything. But the
codiene was an immediate cure. However I still could not digest milk
without getting terrible cramps and foamy, water stools. I could eat any
dairy products, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc... We always drank
skim milk but I tried 2%, whole, goats milke, rice milk, soy milk,
powdered, non-dairy, etc... in cereal, with protein poweder, as icemilk and
nothing made a difference. I haven't had to take codiene since February or
so but if I drink milk I get the same results, cramps and foamy, water
stool. I can put milk in coffee, so I dirnk half a pot of decaf a day and
put about 1/3rd of the cup as milk. I got used to not drinking my coffee
black. GOOD LUCK and talk to your surgeon. -Jaime

I had RNY too and I have MAJOR problems with constipation. I wish I could
tell you what the answer is, but I do not have it.

I had the RNY last March, and for the first few days at home, I had
uncontrollable diahhrea - probably 3 or 4 times. Then, it went away, and
now my problem is really bad constipation, even though I try everything I
can do to get in my required amount of fiber. I drink 2 or 3 bottles of
Crystal Light Live Active Raspberry Peach flavor with Fiber per day, and I
eat Kroger CarbMaster Yogurt with two tablespoons of Nutricology Ground
Fiber in it, but it really doesn't work too well. I also take two stool
softeners per day, but they don't seem to help, either. I finally found
something that DOES help, and that's "Smooth Move" tea (either
regular or chocolate flavor). I have a VERY large cup that I use for tea,
so I put in one bag of mint herbal tea, and one bag of the chocolate smooth
move, and by the next morning, I have a regular bowel movement. My
nutritionist said it was okay to take. Other people on this forum swear by
Miralax, but it says on the bottle that it can take up to 2-3 days to
produce a bowel movement. As far as bladder problems, I've had no more than
usual for a woman of my age (56). I have some urgency now and then, but
I'm thinking it doesn't have anything to do with the WLS, just more the
fact that I'm drinking an awful lot of fluid these days.
