I was a BMI of 40 and absolutely no comorbidities. I was approved by AETNA
in about a week. However my bariatric program made me go through dietician
appointments, psyhcological appointments, etc. It was about a 7 month
process. They did their homework though and I think that is why AETNA
approved it.

o ok..that makes more sense..i already met with the psychologist and the
dietician...and the dr..the psych approved me..the dr said i would have to
attend classes on how to eat and gave me papers to take to my primary
physician to record my weight once a month..he basically said it would take
six months because he didnt want to submit and have me denied..so i guess
this is normal..i guess i was just expecting faster results..thanks for
sharing

I had BMI 37 when I was approved, no comorbidities either. But here's the
trick... when they sent my paperwork in, they put down my highest weight,
which would have been BMI of 41. Also you can tell them what kinds of
diseases run in your family without records. Mine were heart disease,
hypertension, diabetes and of course obesity. That was the absolute truth,
but now that I think about it, I could've have lied and gotten away with
it. I know that sounds awful, but you could probly lie about your highest
weight and your family background without consequences. Hope this helps.
