Until after I had a couple of fills after my LapBand, I felt like I had no
restriction at all. This is perfectly normal. Trust me, once they
"deploy" your band (as my doc calls it) you'll get some
restriction and get some help with portion control.
Keep in mind that the band will not change the cravings or head hunger,
this is the emotional work we have to do.
Good luck,

I had my first fill 5-28-08 and I felt like I ate more but the doctor told
me that I had no restriction at the time and that was normal. I go back
for my next fill 6-25-08 and I will probably have more restriction than I
have now. I drink a protein shake in the morning and have a small lunch
but it seems like at supper I could eat a horse. I eat healthy but it seems
like I can eat most any thing I want. I am losing but I really can't tell
it in my weight but I guess I am having non scale victories because my
clothes that I couldn't wear last summer is loose now. Good Luck...

I saw no real changs in my eating until my 4th fill. It's normal to not
have restriction or much weight loss for the first couple fills.

I agree with the above postings.. it is normal to eat more due to the lack
of restriction. But I just wanted to say during those months that I had
very little restriction, I ate like a horse and didn't lose but a couple
pounds. I wasted almost six months because I was eating to much and not
eating the right foods. Just some advise... eat as if your band was filled,
eat small portions and eat slowly. It is so hard when you have very little
restriction. I just recently had my band filled under x-ray with barium
swallow and I am now properly restricted and losing 2-3 pounds a weeks. If
i would of ate smaller portion when i wasn't restricted I would be so much
closer to my goal weight now. Just some friendly advise and good luck on
your journey

Sometimes it takes several fill before you feel true restriction....just
try to watch what you eat...pick healthy choices ......you'll get there
before you know it. Pam / Ft Worth.......Bandster Bites

Hey guys! I had Lapband on 10-17-07 and although I would notice some
striction after my first few fills, I didn't notice a BIG difference (what
some call the "sweet spot") until my 5th fill. This is different
for each person - but now I rarely think about food and I get full a lot
quicker. It is awesome :) So just be patient. The band is gradual, but I
liked that I was still able to enjoy some of my favorite foods (in
moderation) at times...and didn't have to go cold turkey the day after my
surgery. I've lost 56 pounds and feel amazing! Hope that helps.
