you need to start walking to work the gas out of your system. you can also
take gas-x tablets. but you need to walk. the more you walk the better you
will feel

I had a lot of gas, too. Much more gas pain than surgical pain.Walk, walk,
walk! Also know that it will pass (pun intended). Avoid dairy. If drug
store gas relievers don't work call your doctor.

Hi Anna: Congrats on making through the surgery. As others have said, the
best remedy is walking. I also would lay on my left side with my knees up
when I was resting. Small sips of water (no straw!) also reduced the
pressure. Gas was with me for many weeks after surgery, and walking was the
BEST way to cope. It helps your intestines recover after they pump you
full of air during the surgical procedure. I don't recommend taking
anything like Gas-x without checking with your Doctor. Hang in, and let me
know how you are doing. I am rooting for you. Warm smiles, Pam

I was just coming on here to post. I too had surgery Tues, got home this am
and am in an incredible amount of burning on left side and gas all over. A
week! OMG! I do not feel like drinking anything as it makes it worse. I
cannot even lie down so lying on left or right is not possible. Keep the
posts coming. I am so glad I am not alone - positive side and that I made
it home!

Congrats on your surgery!!!! All of the other posts are what I did, and
they all help. I also didn't drink real cold water as that made the pain
and gas worse. Good luck

Anna,
Congratulations. Welcome to the losing side. Yes, you must keep walking
to get rid of the gas; however, you will still have gas but not as much.
You system is new so it is going to get rid of gas -- fruits and veggies
give me gas so you will get it from time to time. I want be as painful as
it is now; however, flagulation is a normal bodily function and you will be
doing it for awhile. I noticed when I drink my protein drinks it gives me
gas for a time afterwards so just because you are out of surgery and having
gas -- it will not all go away. It will go away in time. I'm almost 5
months out and it's not as bad as the first few months --but I still have
it.

Anna, if you are not passing gas, call your doctor right away. Sometimes
things need time to work out, but you need to pass gas, don't wait if it
does not pass. Sometimes we need help with BM after surgery, I did not,
but I know many do. Don't wait until you have too much constipation to get
assistance. Call and check in. Take care. Patricia P.

Hi Anna...I had Lap Band surgery on Monday 7/9/07. I have not had much
problem with intestinal gas, but the gas that is trapped in my body and has
now settled into my left shoulder and rib cage has been intolerable at
times. I have been walking, sometimes it helps, sometimes makes it worse. I
have noticed that it eases up if I am lying straight out on the couch
propped up on pillows versus sitting in a chair. Almost like if you bend
your body by sitting it pushes harder on the gas or something. Just a
theory of mine, LOL! I must say, the actual incisions from the surgery have
not bothered me at all other than a little residual soreness. This gas
thing is by far the biggest downside I've experienced to date. Try to be
patient, everyone says it will go away...I'm counting on them to be right,
too!!

congrats to all.I had lap band surgery 1 week ago.the only problem I have
is the gas which woke me up out of my sleep this morning.I only really seem
to have a problem at night trying to lie down,it is so uncomfortable.I use
a c-pap machine for sleep apnea.I am wondering if this is contributing to
all this gas.Any help on this will be greatly appreciated,by the way I do
use the gas x.
