A repair to your original surgery. Or a change of surgery type, for
example, from LapBand to RNY or RNY to DS, or even proximal RNY to distal
RNY. The reasons for revision may be that the original surgery broken down
mechanically, OR that it is still intact, but not working OR that it was
the wrong surgery type for your body. Some ppl may have what appears to be
an intact surgery, but vomit incessantly, for example, and the cause may
not be found until during the revision. That's why I say "intact but
not working". I've seen several that fit this description, but once
opened up, the reason for the problem was visible, such as a VBG who had
vomited for 11 yrs. Scope looked ok, swallow showed very slow emptying,
but it wasn't til they could SEE it that they saw her stomach had flipped
over completely. That almost closed the passage, but she could still get
liquids through, eventually.
