YES! Assuming you do not have any complications, of course. I had lap rny
on 11-5 and went back to work 10 days later. I could have gone back after 4
or 5 days though.

Absolutely! I am 43 and had a BMI of 41. I could have gone back to work
in about a week. My surgeon did not want me back to work for two weeks
though so that I could get used to my new diet. The day after I got home
from the hospital I went to Sam's Club, Wal-Mart and Home Depot. I felt
great and you will too! Good luck with surgery!

I had an open RNY and was back to work in about 10 days. I'm 36 and my BMI
was 47. My Doc told me that I know my body better that anyone and only I
know how I feel. I felt pretty good, just a little sore but had a great
energy level. Good Luck!!

No problem. I was back to work part time in just over a week, boredom was
my biggest problem. At no quite a month I delivered a gazillion pounds of
stuff for my business, I think its in my profile, lots of good day to day
descriptions there.

You'all are made of sterner stuff than I am, apparently, but then I had an
open RNY. I needed 6 weeks minimum to recooperate. (BMI 36, age 48)

I am 55yo (yesterday) and had LAP-RNY on Oct. 8th. Went back to work one
week later. Could have used a few more days but as the Principal of a
school, I wanted to get back. Now down 47lbs in seven weeks.
You will be fine.

I felt great at 4 weeks, but suddenly at 5 weeks had a severe case of
weakness that lasted 3 weeks. It went away with exercise. So you probably
will be fine, but be prepared to be out longer if you have to. I really
felt It was wise that I took the time to adjust to my new way of eating.
Each of us is differnt. Go by how you feel.

I am only 31 but I was shopping in the mall at one week and back to work
full time at two weeks post op. By four weeks I was traveling on business
with no problem.

I am so impressed with the fast recovery time everyone has posted. I am 40
yr. old with a BMI of 40.3. My surgery is scheduled for 12/17/2002... and
am planning on taking off work for at least 4 weeks. What kind of jobs are
all of you going back to? I work in a forensic mental health facility,
where we have patients that tend to be violent quite often and do attack
people almost on a daily basis. I feel that if I had a desk type job (boy,
do I wish) I might be able ot go back earlier... but with the job I do
every day... I am scared to risk being injured and damage being done to my
new little pouch. Hope I do feel as good as you all do that soon!!!

I turned 50 the day I left the hospital after my open RNY. Three weeks
later I had to staff a conference of 8000 people, out of town. I did it,
but I was tired! I took short naps instead of eating since I was on protein
shakes etc at the time. I think with a lap you should be fine at 4 weeks.
Good luck! hugs,

I was 55 when I had my Open RNY and had a BMI of 57.6. I returned to work
fulltime after two weeks. And I did great. I do have a desk job and
didn't have to worry about lifting heavy things but I had no problems at
all.

My daughter and I both had lap RNY....my BMI was 47.4 and hers was 68. I
returned to a full-time office position with a lot of walking at 8 days
post-op, and she returned to teaching a classroom of pre-schoolers 14 days
post-op. We both had the expected "tender" tummies and were a
little more tired than usual at the end of the days, but otherwise had no
problems at all. We observed our surgeon's restriction on lifting....no
more than 15 lbs. for the first six weeks...and did just fine. Best
wishes!

I must be a major wimp. There is no way I could have gone back to work at 4
weeks. I took off 6 weeks and did a lighter than usual schedule for the
first 2 weeks back to work. I have a very physically strenuous job and
quite honestly I am completely wiped out at the end of the day at 9 weeks
post op. Any time I am on my feet for a long time I start getting a lot of
pain under my ribs.

Yes, I went back to work 2 1/2 weeks after my surgery. I was still a little
tired but I needed to go back to work and I was fine.
