Welcome to my world, I had my surgery August 13, 2009, and I am not able to eat a lot of pureed foods. So I supplement on protein shakes. I throw up when I try new foods, and forget fish and chicken, yuck. My nut told me to try Wendy's chili, I do not know if it was the chili or me taking B-Complex, not (B-12) at the same time, I threw up. I am afraid to eat new foods, I eat yogurt, ricotta ans lentils, plus my protein shakes.

I am 6 weeks out and eating most anything but in a much much smaller portion. I try to stay away from pasta and cheese because they seem to make me sick. I can eat beef Jerky no problem great for protein. I tried to eat a hamburger that did not work about 2 bites and I was done. I have lean cuisine dinners with chicken and vegetabeles just do not eat the rice. I had the Gastric Sleeve performed on 8/18/09 and I could not be happier I have not had any problems.

I am not 8 weeks post op.. I am 17 months post op and to this day I only eat about 1000 calories if I'm lucky. I would think eating for an hour is to long.. I was told to eat to 30 minutes. (Just what I was told). Just remember to chew until your food is liquid. If you start to get the foamies you are eating too fast and to big of a bite of food. At 8 weeks out I was eating cottage cheese with some fruit in it or veggies.. It is very hard for me to eat any kind of meat.. It takes me 30 min just to eat 3 oz of meat. Good luck. I wouldn't trade what I did for anything and I am sure you wouldn't either.

I am 8 weeks out and I can try just about anything. I cannot eat rice, because I pay for it all day...trying to get it up. Meat goes down wonderfully....expecially chicken. No, I have not tried steak yet! Salads are awesome...grilled chicken salad is the best. Although I only eat part of it....it is full of protein. I HATE protein shakes, so any way I can get protein....great! Beef Jerky goes down well...stew is good as long as the meat is lean. I have eaten turkey burgers (without bun) and that is better than regular meat.

You should really only be eating for 30 minutes as someone else said...as one hour is too long and is considered grazing...You can eat more than you need to eat by spreading out your meals so long even if you only eat half of that, you really don't want to start a bad habit! They are sooooo hard to break long term! Just a suggestion
