Question:
When I drink my protein shake, do i need to sip too?

I personally have to sip ALL of my drinks, protein, water, etc. Otherwise,
I get an upset stomach.

It depends on how far out you are. I am nearly 6 months out, and way past
the sipping stage. I can take a large mouthful that has three or four
swallows in it without any problem. But back when I first had the
surgery??? No way. If you're still in those first few weeks to months,
I'd stick with sipping.

I'm 14.5 months out and I still sip. If I drink too quickly or too much at
a time I get a tight and uncomfortable feeling in my throat and chest and
then I cannot drink anymore. I personally don't like that achy feeling so
I drink more slowly. Also drinking fast or taking too big of swallows
leads to hiccups and burping. I'd much rather take my time and sip than
deal with those.

I agree with Caribou (?). I'm 28 monthe out from RNY and still sip. I think
it's probably always better to sip even if you've never had wls.

I'm 4 weeks out from VSG, and I definitely sip everything. I've been
advised by my nutritionist to drink the protein drink over a 1 hour period.
That way, you have time to absorb the protein (which is very important). If
you drink too fast, you lose the nutrients.
