Question:
Caffene and Calcium absorption
I'm 15 months out and down 160 pounds. I have heard many different theories on caffene and calcium absorption. Anyone have any input on this? Thanks! Rich — Richbehr (posted on June 21, 2009)

Hi Rich, All I can tell you is that I am almost 5 years out. I drink 2 to 3
cups a coffee a day. Never had a problem with Calcium. My lab levels are
within normal limits.

They say that a LOT of caffeine can cause you to lose calcium in your urine
(over 3-4 cups a day)...I drink a cup of coffee in the morning and just
take my vits and supplements a few hours afterwards to be on the safer
side...Caffeine and IRON however are enemies and it does block iron
absorption...Plus I drink a cup or two of green tea daily as well...While I
have had multiple vitamin defs...My cal levels have always been good. I
believe that those who have any problems with caffeine are those who drink
it in excess. Here's a CNN Transcript on Coffee that I had saved a long
time ago because I thought it was very interesting...It aired Aug
2002...It's hard to find much on caffeine because some old myths just die
hard and people refuse to change their opinions even with new findings and
studies! http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0208/27/lol.04.html
