i also had an enlarged liver, it didn't stop my banding surgery. the
doctors put me on a special diet to shrink my liver prior to surgery. as
far as the cyst goes i am not sure. hopefully, th e surgereon can remove
your cyst while they are doing your band surgery. wishing you all the
best........steven

I don't know about the cyst but the enlarged liver is nothing to worry
about. Mine was enlarged and it didn't affect my lap band. The surgeon
may want you to lose a little weight before the surgery date, which I did.
It was just 8 pounds. I wish I could tell you about the cyst but I have NO
clue. Good Luck...Diane

I'm pretty sure the cyst will not stop your Lap-Band, and neither will the
enlarged liver. To shrink your liver, do your best to lose as much weight
as possible before surgery. Losing weight will shrink your liver and
further increase safety and help ensure the best possible outcome.

People needing WLS often have enlarged livers, or what is referred to as
"fatty liver." The preop diet and subsequent weight loss after
surgery is known to reduce liver size; many times the surgeon doesn't know
until he goes in and examines your liver to know why it's enlarged. On the
plus side: I also have adrenal cysts that were found during my workup (I
had a little more because I have kidney stones); my PCP (who is also a
nephrologist) said it isn't an issue, and, as my surgeon said "That's
not the area I'm working in; if your nephrologist said it's OK it won't
affect the surgery." My Lap-Band is scheduled to be done 8/26! I also
know someone who has a very large liver due to cirrhosis; she also had a
Lap-Band last week and is doing well. The surgeon just took some liver
biopsies during the surgery.

These questions need to be directed to your doctor.
