Question:
Has anyone found a health insurer post-op?
I have been on COBRA insurance for 17 months. Applied for medical insurance and was declined due to WEIGHT LOSS combined with low blood sugar (under control) plus my current weight/height (230, 5'7"). I have lost 180 #'s and kept it off for 7 years. Does anyone know of an insurance that will insure my situation. I have no health problems. — nstien (posted on December 18, 2007)

The state where you live could make all the difference. If you're running
into dead ends, I suggest contacting your state insurance commissioner
pronto.
I live in Hawaii where it may seem like paradise until you need health
insurance. Hawaii doesn't guarantee anyone the right to health coverage.
In our case, we've been forced to decide between health or home. We've
chosen home, so with the odds against us, Hawaii is where we'll die.
America:
Health coverage ... skyrocketing
Safety ... risky
Citizenship ... worthless

Blue Cross Blue Shield will insure you. They have a pre existing condition
clause which states that they will not cover any pre existing conditions
for during the first six months of the contract. But they will insure you.

I have BCBS and they said when my Cobra runs out I can get a policy with
them to include my preexisting. Talk to your current insurer.
