What is ls? Left side?... if you're having pain that is not usual for you
over the last week you should contact your surgeon's office and at least
talk to a nurse. I have some left side pain when I inhale deeply or yawn
unexpectedly... I think mine is just from maybe over-extending when I was
not accustomed to it. But, best thing is to talk to your doctor. Didn't
your nutritionist provide you with a menu plan? Some pretty good staples
early on are those you mentioned. You could also try scrambled eggs,
grits, chicken broth, jello, popsicles, tuna fish (in water & can mix
with a minimal amount of FF or LF mayo).. I hope this helps, good luck,
Leslie

Hello, 10 days myself. I am also having most of my pain on the left side.
My doctor explained that is the area where most of the instruments where
used and therefore would cause more pain than the other incisions.
Apparently all doctors have a different diet schedule, I can't have any
soft foods until this Sunday which would be almost three weeks from
surgery. I can only have full liquids, yogurt, jello etc. Cottage Cheese
is in my list for next week. Chicken broth, strained soups are also good.
Hope this helps. Good Luck

I was told to be on liquid diet for first 2 weeks. Maybe you are advancing
too fast for just 1 week trying to eat soft stuff. Try jello, broth etc.
You need to realize your stomach is still healing and you just had MAJOR
surgery! Please be careful! God bless, good luck and welcome to the
losing side!

Hi Kim! I am 8 days post op. My surgeon's program was broth and jello and
popsickles for the first week. Monday was "egg day". I was able
to eat a few bits of scrambled egg on Monday, then back to broth/jello for
lunch and dinner. Then Tuesday it was eggs for bkft, then add a new protein
for lunch, which was a slice of turkey deli meat. Then broth/jello for
dinner. Then today was the first day I got protein solid for dinner and I
had a little bit of cod fish, fried in a pan with Pam spray, garlic powder,
spray on butter (I WAS THE BEST FISH I'VE EVER HAD!!!). So now, no more
jello or broth for me, I can start eating my "list" of proteins
for 2 weeks by adding one new one per day. Here is the list my program gave
me: eggs, tuna, FF or LF string cheese, refried beans, fish, turkey or
chicken thinly sliced deli meat, FF or LF cottage cheese, FF or LF yogurt
(w/o any additions such as fruit, nuts, etc). In 2 weeks I stick with this
but can add a few more such as peanut butter. Also, my pain is all on my
left side too, it is because that is where your stomach is and where they
did most of the "re-routing" of your insides. You're doing great
- remember to call your doctor or dietician with questions since we can all
tell you what we do but surgeon's programs are different and it is best to
go by what your own surgeon is saying. Good luck!!!

Kim my lovely queen goober....you are one week out, you should be on clear
liquids progressing to full liquids! Not cottage cheese and peanut butter
yet. You shouldn't even be to the part where you are worried about when to
drink, because that is all you should be doing.
Take care of your new body!!!! You know I love ya!

1 week post-op and you're eating PEANUT BUTTER? No, no, *NO*!! Who approved
THAT in your diet so close after surgery? And if it's the *crunchy* kind,
that could certainly be a source of your pain. I don't recommend the smooth
kind at this stage either.

All, it says out here on the site that each surgeon's diet plan is based on
his/her own individual program. So... some people are on clears for a week
and others get soft foods before they leave the hospistal. There is some
very helpful information here on the site in the Forums for nutritional
stages after surgery. It clearly states there that the diet plans are
based in individual surgeon's choice.
Good Luck!

When I progressed to mushies I loved fat free refried beans warmed in the
micro with a little low fat cheese and sour cream. I was only able to eat
a small amount of this but it was warm and spicy! I also ate riccotta
chesse warm or cold. I did warm with a little red sauce and herbs or cold
sweetened / flavored like a desert. I still go back to basics every once
in a while. I am one year out. Be gentle to your new pouch and follow
your doctors orders. GOOD LUCK!!
