Question:
To much weight?
Is it possible to loose to much weight where your insurance will deny you? I mean I am good at loosing 20 lbs and keeping it off for a couple months but then it comes back. I just want to know can you loose to much weight? — bridgadean (posted on August 29, 2007)

if your team fills the paperwork out correctly they will use your weight at
your intial visit and that bmi..after that it doesn't matter. i lost 15 lbs
before my surgery and i had no issues with insurance bcbs of mass...good
luck

I would think if your doctor has approved you for gastric bypass you really
shouldn't worry about 20 or 30 pounds lost.. People like me who need the
bypass are more than 100 pounds over weight. Calculate your BMI and just
make sure you stay in the obese category... Also, over weight people always
yo-yo. That's the story of my life.. Insurance companies (i believe) like
to see that too..

SOS - Once you've started the process and paperwork, you shouldn't be
denied. I was warned about checking your BMI. Keep your weight in the range
for being obese and there shouldn't be a problem. Of course if you have
co-morbidity's you have a better chance. Sure it is great to lose the
weight, but will you keep it off and never let it return?

I think once your approved it doesn't matter regarding the weight loss. I
wish I would of lost more before surgery; live and learn!
