Question:
Has anyone used the Lindstoms recently (2005/2006) to fight their denial?
I have been denied for surgery and have a good case. So I decided to hire Kelley and Walter Lindstrom. They have been great so far. They are professional and friendly. I have read so many great things about them, most of which has taken place several years ago. However, I have not found any recent posts regarding a person experience with winning an appeal using their services. If you have used them recently, please let me know how it went. — Glamazon (posted on March 24, 2006)

Brenda, I was involved with them in 2005. I had gone to Barix Clinics and
was denied. The insurnace reps at that time were not the best and they
just left me hanging. I kept the paperwork for some reason. But after,
the denial, I figured I would try another diet and of course gained even
more weight. I gave up at that point and didn't know what to do. I called
Barix and explained and they said if I returned a certain amount of time I
could be re-evaluated, so I did. When I got there I explained the problems
and my surgeon stated the insurance department had improved 100% and if
denied they would pay for the appeal process for me if qualified. I did
have to go through the whole process again ie diet, psych testing, doctor
exams, letters, etc. I was denied once and then twice. I was contacted by
Barix and advised that I needed to sign a release of information so that it
could be forwarded to Walter and Kelley Lindstrom in CA. I was skeptical
since in CA but hey, it was more than I got last time. I received a call
and told them I had all the paperwork from the previous denial which they
wanted copies and then they wanted me to find as much documentation as to
my diet history with ie weight watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutri-System but the
information was not kept indefinetly. I did have documentation in my
medical file as to going to a dietician which helped. The process started
in April of 2005 and by July 2005 I received a call from Walter himself
(since we were to have a conference call with the insurance company) and he
advised that it was postponed. I asked why and he stated because "You
have been approved." I was flabbergasted. I thanked him asked what
the next process was and he said the letter would be sent for the approval.
I called for scheduleding and had a date for approx. 3 weeks from Walter's
call. They were the BEST. I think it helps that Walter had been through
the denial himself and knew the struggle. He had experience dealing with
denials with my insurance company Cigna and their process. I spoke with
Kelley and Walter personally and felt such relief each time. They assured
me it would be approved and once it was it would be up to me to follow the
rules of the surgeon and recovery. I say a small prayer for them everyday
and think of them if things don't seem to go well because they have done me
a great service and I don't want to disappoint them. Feel free to e-mail
me.........
