Also get yourself some of the bottled Iso Pure protein drinks. They are clear liquid and contain 40g protein. They taste like adult Koolaid. My favorite was Grape Frost, then Pineapple-Orange-Banana, and finally Mango. I also got the "New Whey" protein "bullets" - which are also considered clear liquids. You're supposed to be able to drink them straight, but I couldn't - they had a "thick" texture, like jello when it's beginning to set. And they were pretty "tart"....so I ended up adding half a bullet to a large cup of fruit-flavored herbal tea (orange flavored to Tangerine Orange Zinger tea, and grape or fruit punch flavor to Wild Berry Zinger tea). They gave the tea a nice, tangy taste that I really missed when I had to give up the protein drinks. I also drank a lot of beef broth with a scoop of Any Whey unflavored protein powder in it. And, I had a Vita Mix recipe for spinach soup that was wonderful and filling.

My surgery was 10 days ago, so I just did this. One thing I have noticed is that all doctors are different in what they allow or not allow, so check with them. My doctor allowed anything clear, sugar-free, containing no more than 5 calories per 8 oz., so the protein bullets and supplements were out for me. I get tired of sweets easily, but crave salts. So, bouillon saved me! I had gotten some of the canned chicken broth and hated it.... tasted like turkey to me for some reason. I also had a couple types of bouillons in the cabinet and alternated between them.. one was the wyler's cubes, and the other was pollo (?) and had more garlic flavors and such. Plus, the saltiness help to keep up my thirst and drinking more of the other beverages, jello, sf popsicles. Good luck!!
