Question:
Has anyone out there had lapband with hypothyroid
I'm asking this question for a co-worker who's considering the surgery. She see my success and weight loss and is considering having it — bchicks42 (posted on November 26, 2007)

I was very hypothyroid and on high meds, they don't know if the surgery
will help the thyroid, but I have got to lower my meds. I had the bypass
though, don't think that would make a difference. I do worry that my
thyroid will screw up everything for me .

I had RNY and after about 3 years, I no longer have to take thyroid
medication.

I HAD RNY ON 11/9 AND I HAVE HYPOTHYROIDISM, TAKE MEDS EVERYDAY FOR IT. YOU
MIGHT WANT TO CALL YOUR DR AND ASK, BUT I DON'T SEE WHY SHE COULDN'T IF I
COULD HAVE RNY WITH IT. GOD BLESS, DEBI ROBINSON

I am 3 1/2 months post lap band surgery and hypothyroid. I am down 46 lbs.
and they had to reduce my dose of thyroid medication. I feel it has worked
well for me.

I have hypothyroidism and just received the Lap Band 11 days ago. My Dr
said there wasnt a problem. Hopefully I will be able to get off the meds
soon

I had lap band surgery 7 weeks ago - My surgeon and my PCP both have told
me that the surgery has nothing at all to do with tyroid function - that I
can fully expect to remain on meds for a lifetime. I am wondering why
others have been taken off meds.

I had RNY but am hypothyroid... don't know if it makes a difference with
lapband though. It has taken me almost a year to get my meds right, but
nothing too major.
