How does one know if the lap band has slipped?

I would say Michelle, one does not know without going to the doctor. I
don't have the lap band, but, if you're worried about it, please call your
surgeon immediately.
Good luck!

I have researched this topic myself because at times I wondered if mine
had. From what I know, you actually will have a drastic increase in
restriction....much more than usual. Another symptom is the constant
feeling that you need to throw up almost immediately after eating. When
the band slips, the stomach actually comes up through the band, which in
turn brings the band downward and can make it almost impossible to get any
food through. From what I have researched, horrible acid reflux is a
symptom, especially if you haven't had any problems up until the time of
onset.
However, some people say they did not have any symptoms at all. If you are
worried, you should go see your doctor. They will probably have you do an
upper GI and see exactly how food is passing through your band. I had some
of these symptoms a few weeks back and became alarmed. I did start to take
some maalox and it took all the symptoms away. I have not had any problems
since. Hope everything works out for you, but you should probably see your
doctor. Better safe than sorry.
