It depends on the Insurance company, it also depends on the person, what
worked for someone may not work for another

For me it only took the insurance company a week to approve my surgery.
The doctors office told me most of the time its 3 to 4 weeks for the
insurance to approve or not. Some people that are not approve continues to
battle with the insurance company can take a while. I would find out first
if your insurance company does cover WLS then find out what they require in
order for them to approve you. Some companies wants six months proof that
you being trying to lose weight. Most require you to have a BMI of 40 or
more. If you have a BMI less than 40 you might have to prove that your have
health conditions due to your weight. Good Luck.

1. I would suggest calling your insurance company to see if they cover the
surgery. 2. Verify what their criteria is/eligiblity requirements. 3.
Contact your medical group for the same. 4. Jump through all the hoops.
It's been 1+ year in the making after my 1st attempt was denied. After
jumping through the hoops; visit with the surgeon, it only took 3 business
days for my approval from the time the surgeon submitted the paperwork to
the approval. I was amazed. Especially after being denied the first time.
Good luck with yourjourney. Mine starts 2/15.
