Question:
I am 7 weeks p. op. Looking for a thin consistency protein drink. The ones I am using

are too thick and I prefer thinner, milk like consistency. Also, does anyone drink with their meals, especially if it is just a snack or small meal. I was told not to but I THINK it is only because it fills you up soo much with a full meal. THANKS    — [Anonymous] (posted on August 15, 2001)

There are MANY on the market that mix up in water, low volume, high protein, low sugar, very thin.

MEEEEEE TOO!! I hate those nasty thick ones. I finally settled on AdvantEdge (EAS) in chocolate and strawberry. I used the premixed because they were very smooth. I mixed them with a little milk because they seemed a little too thin, believe it or not. I just tried Isopure today and it is good. It tastes like koolaid, but has 40 g of protein in 20 oz. Again, I used the premixed in glass bottles. The AdvantEdge you can get at WalMart/KMart. The Isopure you either have to order online or get at a sports nutrition store like GNC. I, too have a hard time not drinking with meals, but I try not to because it liquifies the food and empties my pouch to fast. I also won't absorb as many of the nutrients. It is hard, but I TRY not to drink more than a few swallows with my meal. Good luck to you!

I just add more water to my shakes anyway because I like them thinner too. The one I have asks for 2 scoops of powder and I only use one with double the water it asks for. Tastes good too. It's called Extreme Whey pro performance from GNC. The thing I like about gnc is that I get a 20% discount with the gold card (ask for it) and if I don't like the product they will refund me (30 day limit) or exchange it for another no questions asked. Another good thing about GNC is any vitamin and supplement that is their store brand is always buy one get the second half off.....add the 20% discount and I'm laughing. Good luck

I like Designer Strawberry. I mix up 2 scoops of this with 8 oz. of Crystal Lite. I think it is very good and it's thin, like strawberry milk. I can't stand the thick ones either.

Pro-Complex from GNC is a great protein drink to mix with water. It has 55 grams of protein in one serving, and has no carbs and no fats.

I too think ISOPURE is a good protien drink. I have tried Dutch Chocolate and Strawberries and Creme. Preferred the choc. best. It is found at GNC and is kind of expensive. The individual servings are 3.50 each.

I am pre-op. During my nutritional consult, the nutritionist told me that there were 2 main reasons not to drink with or immediately after meals. One, it washed food out of the pounch too quickly, and you would get hungrier faster. Two, the liquid would move the food through your system too quickly and might/would cause dumping.

Anne, I drink Pro-Complex, a protein drink that can be purchased at GNC. It comes in chocolate and vamilla. It mixes easily, is not grainy, and is thin. It has 55 grams of protein per 8 oz. serving, with no carbs, sugars, or fats. I like it quite well. Hope this helps. Good luck. Kay
