Question:
Anyone have trouble eating at 8 weeks post?
I FIND THAT MY STOMACH DOESN'T HURT WHEN I JUST EAT SOUP/CRACKERS. BUT I CAN DRINK 6-8 OZ OF SOUP. I THOUGHT THE STOMACH COULD ONLY HOLD 4 OZ. IS IS WORRYING ME. I HAVE LOST 65 LBS SO FAR. THANK YOU — gwhisman6 (posted on December 14, 2000)

Your stomach will hold different amounts based on the consistency
of the food- soup will pass through rather quickly (depending
on how chunky it is) so you will be able to eat more if you eat
slowly. That is why I was a stickler in measuring everything
until I got the hang of it:) Good Luck- you are doing fine!

M.B. is right. You also need to take into account the fact that you are
chewing that food differently than before. I find that I hold certain food
much better than others. I can eat a slice and a half of pizza, but only
about 2 oz of fish. Its all in the consistancy of the food. Chili has sauce
and I can eat more of it than I can a chicken breast. Just watch your
portions. Decide how much you are going to eat and stop there. I made the
mistake of always trying to eat until I felt that "full" feeling.
Bad idea, my weight loss had slowed because of it. Blessings...
Oh, soup can fool you so watch those portions, if pasta is in it skip the
crackers. Just a suggestion.

In addition to the other posts, your pouch swelling has also gone down
since surgery so you will be able to hold more in your pouch. I can eat
more of some things than others. Also if I don't chew it well, I find
myself filling up faster than if I take the time to chew chew chew.
Good Luck~
