Question:
Malabsorption and advise on getting strong again
I am about 8 years post of RNY. I have had iron infusions several years now so keeping up on my labs. But recently noticed Im very fatigued and my iron levels are ok not bad and doctor feels Im vitamin d deficient but I take vit d. Any suggestions for meal replacements or food for energy and to help absorb the nutrients I am apparently not getting orally? — Gina_Lea (posted on November 9, 2010)

Not sure in your case but before my surgery next month I am doing colon
cleansing with a professional and with a clear bowel absorption is better.
Its not for all but I do this once a year and I feel so much better. Just a
suggestion, for sure not for all.

Your doctor "feels" you're deficient in vitamin D? What do your
lab results show? As someone who experimented with different types of
vitamin D for years, I can tell you that you can be supplementing vitamin D
at levels considerably above those recommended for the rest of the
world--those that haven't had malabsorptive weight-loss surgery--and still
be vitamin D deficient. Find out what your vitamin D levels are, and then
get some post-op style vitamin D supplementation. Vitalady.com is a good
place to look. And stay away from "colon cleansers." They'll
give you diarrhea, and "cleanse" your wallet, but they won't
improve your health. Best of luck to you.

Thank you both for your replies. I did not mention my parathyroid hormone
level is 88. Does anyone knows what that means?
