Question:
I JUST GOT MY SURGERY DATE FOR MY REVISION FROM THE LAP BAND TO RNY
Now that I got my date I am getting scared.. or the fact I am worried about a very sick brother of mines. I know this is the right thing for me because I gain weigth with the lap bad and it just didnt work for me. If anyone could please tell me all happens going from a lap band to rny. The doctor told me that they will be some scare tissue but if he feels like it is to much he will have to talk the bad out and come back another day. He said he has done a lot of his and he only had one that he had to go back in. I pray that he dont have to do that with me. I wanted rny the first time but my husband and mother was agaist it. Now they are on board. Please give me any info about it and to get over this feeling now that I know I am going to have it. My date is May 11,2010. Thanks — JANIECEMOM (posted on April 19, 2010)

I had lapband surgery feb 2007. I was very successful, losing 120 pounds,
but I was always in pain and my DR did not care. So I got pregnant, had a
c-section and vomited for 2 weeks after that. Finally I went into shock,
my band had slipped and according to the Dr that removed it, surgically, it
had slipped along time ago. So then I was fat again without a band. My
new Dr got me approved and I had the RNYGBP on mach 29th. I was really
scared too. Be careful though. This feels alot different and the road to
recovery is long. I stayed in the hospital for 6 days because I had
swelling in my pouch. My Dr said that is normal with a revision. It has
been 3 weeks already and there is still pain, but not unbearable. I have
lost 20 pounds already in just 3 weeks. You will be fine. Find a friend
who has had the surgery and cling tight. That helped me alot. Support is
the best! You will be fine and good luck. If I could do this, alone,
with a 9 month old you can do it. Life is patiently waiting for you......

I had a gastric sleeve after lap-band removal because of a severe slip. I
had also gained back most of my weight. My doc did the sleeve
laproscopically, and I went home the next day. In a lot of cases, they can
do the RNY that way too. It is natural to have some fears, but with a good
doc, you will be fine. Best of luck to you!
