Question:
Any suggestions on Bariatric Cook Books?
Does anyone have a cook book specific to Bariatric patients and our high protein diet that they would recommend to others? I am looking for somthing that would also list all of the nutritional facts. I have found a few on line but would like to find out what others on OH like best prior to ordering. Thanks to all!! — Chunk-e-Monkey 1. (posted on April 16, 2010)

I have read about and heard that Dave Fouts cookbooks are very good. He is
a chef who has had wls. I have 2 small cookbooks that I ordered from
imetabolic.com. They are recipes for just after surgery, but he has
others.

You should check out this blog
http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com
hope the link works if not just google it. Her recipes are amazing. Also
there is a cook book that comes with a sample kit of protein you can get at
www.bariatriceating.com. Great stuff.

Yes, a great book is "Before and After" by Susan Maria Leach.
She is a bariatric post-op who saw a need, and has built her own bariatric
supplement and proteins business online, called BariatricEating.com. The
book is available from her, or from Amazon, and you might even find it in
the library or a book store near you. The first half of the book is her
story, and a whole section of questions and answers, and the second half of
the book is all recipes, and they are GOOD!! She even gives you all the
nutritional info for a "bariatric" serving of each one. I love
this cookbook....and you can also find recipes online at her website.
Check it out...I think you'll agree that they are really yummy-sounding!

I just went to amazon to look up the book that was mentioned in one of the
answer and found a whole bunch of books. So if you have a chance check it
out.
Wished I had known or thought of it sooner. June

My wife is a bit of a gourmet cook... she's really enjoyed making the
recipes from "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Patt
Levine and Michele Bontmpo-Saray. They break it out for different stages,
pureed, soft foods, lap-band, RNY, etc... and list all the protein,
calories and other nutrients. We really like this book.

Hi,
I have not had my surgery yet, just got scheduled but I have been looking
on the net. Type in gastric bypass recipes or weight loss surgery recipes.
There are a lot of them with all types of recipes. My favorite at this
point is as stated above bariatric eating website by Susan Leach or The
world according to eggface. I have copied almost all of the recipes so
that I can start to try them pre-op.
I hope this helps and have a wonderful day.
