Hey CONGRATS!! Its very common, and with proper nutrition you and the baby
will be fine. Our support group had a bunch of post op pregancies, one got
pregnant within a couple weeks of surgery. Its not recommended but very
manegable, call your surgeon and nutronist for more info.

Hi Summer. You are in a hard place, but you have to wait until you have
the baby to deal with your weight. You don't want to lose weight while
pregnant. That is a precious child in your womb, and you need all the
nutritional support right now you can give it. You had an rny, so you are
already not absorbing all the vitamins and things you need for youself. I
know this will be hard for you, but I would eat only foods good for you and
the baby, leave all junk and soda behind, drink water and milk and a little
juice, and be sure that baby has the best chance ever for good health.
Once you have the baby you will have to work at the weight loss. You will
be past the honeymoon period, but you can still take off the weight. If
you try to fool yourself into losing weight while you are pregnant, your
child may pay a dear price. Please be careful. Take care. Patricia P.

Tell you doctor at once. If you had a RNY they will have to provide you
with some special nutrishion and you may have to go into the hospital for a
day or two. Call him now and let him know. It is important to your
child's health.

hey there. my name is stephanie and i got pregnant at 8 months out. things
will work out! CONGRATS to you also! when people say that the honeymoon
period will be over, they are right, i gained 34 lbs while i was pg after
losing 99 lbs, how depressing right? well, i ended up losing all of it 8
days after i had the baby. it was pretty nifty. since then i have lost
seven more pounds, that was just over five months ago that i had my son,
but it is 7lbs gone! some days are better though. i am at 206 right now,
but on a good day i am down to 202. my weight flucuates a LOT, but that may
just be me. i have started a new eating regime. i was eating unhealthy
again, and drinking pop, and eating late at nite. now i dont drink pop at
all, and i dont eat late at nite, i am back on my protien shakes. i feel
better about myself now too. i am also nursing, (which is MORE than
possible for a RNY patient in case youre wondering, dont let ANYONE but
your dr tell you different, and if your dr does, i would see a lactation
consultant) so i cant go on any hardcore eating changes. i take in more
calories now, but they get burned right away. if you have ANY question at
all, i mean anything, please dont hesitate to write me. my e-mail address
is [email protected] (i know the email is a little luducris, but ive
had it since i was young and dumb, and know it so i dont dare change it
LOL) feel free to email me anytime! *hug* steph

Sorry, about spelling. I found out 6 months after surgery in 2003 that I
was 3 months pregnant. You will need to see a ob dr. that specializes in
problem pregnancies. That way if there is a problem, they will be able to
help you and the baby, because of your surgery. My son started trying to be
born at 31 weeks. Every tuesday and thursday and saturday I was in a
hospital bed at 9am until 9:30pm. My son was born at 37 weeks c-section. I
was in labor, that I knew of was 27 hours and 37 minutes, before he was
born. But the dr. said that I had been at a 4 for 2weeks and it was time to
bring him into the world. The only problem he had was later that night he
stop breathing for a minute. But he is fine and a head of other his age. He
3 years old and stands about 40 inches and weights about 37 pounds. He is
even in pre-kindergarden. I hope this helps. My best wishes.

congratulations!!! You have gotten some great responses here. They have
really hit the nail on the head. Do plan on breast feeding. It was the
only time in my life that I felt really calm. The only time in my life
that I wasn't thinking about the other things I needed to be doing. It was
wonderful. Besides that lactating uses about 3000 calories a day. What a
deal! My dad was an OB-GYN and he always said a mother should breast feed
at least three weeks even if shehates it, because it is soooo good for the
baby. I nursed about 6 months with one and 4 with the other. Anyway, good
luck and again Congrats!!! Pat
