Question:
I am 2 1/2 years post-op VBG and still having problems with vomiting. I just had an
EGD and UGI done and they say that nothing is wrong. I am still having lots of pain in my stomach too. I vomit and vomit. Can there be anything wrong that they can not detect with these above procedures? THanks Beverly Ward I can be emailed at [email protected] — kindness53 (posted on June 22, 2008)

I don't kno0w much about what you are going through ut i can relate to the
vomitting thing. Is it something that you are eating that maybe has too
much texture or acid? I know if I eat something that doesn't agree with me,
I vomit..then my stomach hurts for a fewv days after...Good luck and I hope
you find out what is going on. God bless you.

I don't know ANYTHING about the surgery you had...but could you be over
eating and not realizing until it's at the point where you get sick and
feel pain? Have you tried cutting back your portion of food just to see if
that helps? These are just suggestions if you haven't tried
them....Otherwise, something is very wrong...Be you own health care
advocate...do not let the doctors brush you off because your problem is not
obvious to them...Push it and demand they find what is wrong or find a
doctor who will search further. You should not be in pain and vomiting
chronically...especially this far out from any surgery...Good luck...and
hope you find relief and feel better

Beverly,
Food allergies can be a consideration. You need to talk to your surgeon.

My surgeon specializes in revising VBGs because the failure rate is so
high. vomiting is common. worse good food like beef tends o cause vomiting,
while junk food like chips go down well:( Best wishes very few surgeons do
VBgs these days because of the problem you are having....

As a revision I had the band surgery 2 years ago. I lost 25 pounds. After
the fact I found out the band is the poorest revision one could ask for. I
listened to the nurse who was against a by-pass style surgery. Silly me.
With the band, starting just three weeks ago I vomit constantly. AND it's
not due to over eating. Even water will cause vomiting. However, now I am
losing wieght. As soon as I can save up the cash...I will have the band
removed. It is my understanding 88% of all bands are removed within 5
years. Does any one know if this is true?
