Your blog says you started at 235, but no mention of height. What was your
BMI pre surgery? RNY will not normally get people to the "ideal
weight" only about 15% above it. Your blog says you work out almost
daily, much more than I do. Yet, I'm 6'3", started out at almost 350
and am now down to 203-4. My guess is that you may not be eating
correctly. I'd also suggest finding a local support group. These support
groups have kept me "on track", as I can share information or ask
questions of other RNY patients. It's a win-win situation for me, and it
may help you too. DAVE

I wish I could help...but all I can say is that no two of us are exactly
the same and the body has it's own plans sometimes. It could be that you
are just one of those people that it's going to take a lot longer to get to
your goal. If you are honest to yourself and truly trying...then maybe
nothing is wrong. I think you should press your doctor to look into
things...Thyroid may even have quit on you...causing a low metabolism...
Good luck...and 48 lbs is still an accomplishment! Not all of us are meant
to be 112 lbs...I'm quite happy in the upper 160's!

Yvette,
I am sorry that you have had a hard time losing. Don't get discouraged by
what others are doing, because we all have different results, but I would
go back to the doctor and ask if your pouch has streched, if you are eating
more than 4-5 oz at a meal. Measure what you are eating and start
recording the food and the amount. Then check the calories and show the
doctor your chart. You can join www.MyFoodDiary.com for $9.00 and record
all your food and water for a month and then drop out, once you have the
trend. I found that I ws eating one or two things I should not have been
eating that I thought was OK, and by just dropping those items, I started
to loose better. I would keep up the protein drinks if you are not eating
a total of 65 grams of protein a day. Again a web based charting systems
will help you know exactly what you are eating and what it contains. Try
it! One other point of advise that has helped me for day one. Join a
local support group. If you do not know where one is ask your doctor or
post a listing on this site for someone to tell you in your area where one
is. I drive two to different ones. One is 35 miles and the other is 100
miles one way, but worth my time for the support and encourgment I receive
and share with my new freinds at these support groups.

My stomach told me when to stop drinking the Dr. Atkins protein drinks --
they would upset my stomach and I'm not quite a year out yet.
Do you mean you've only lost 48 lbs the entire year?

Every program is different. I was told to stop the protein drinks when I
started eating solid foods. I can have them occasionally if I am not
getting all of my protein but not on a regular basis. My program has free
nutritional counselling for life and it has made it a lot easier for me.
Congrats on your weight loss.

I am out 11 months and lost 248# and still loosing. I was told not to drink
ant Juices or most shakes. Too much sugar. I would make a quick call to
your Dr's office. I am not sure about the shakes but I was told to stay
away... Bobby [email protected]

A lot of the protein shakes have a lot of sugar. You might want to try
protein capsules. There's one on the market called Capsul-Pro and you can
buy it at www.nashuanutrition.com. Good luck!
