Question:
considering lap band with Dr. Romos Kelly since having gastic bypass
I had a gastric bypass 6 years ago and am now considering the lap band. I heard of Dr. Romos Kelly in Mexico that is very experienced. Any thoughts on Dr. Romos KELLY? — MB5219 (posted on July 7, 2007)

I AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE A RNY SURGERY ON JULY 11, 2007, AND IT WILL BE DONE
AT FRANKLIN REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN LOUISBURG, NC. MY SURGEON IS DR.
PAUL ENOCH. I AM NOT THRILLED ABOUT MY HOSPITAL, BECAUSE IT IS PRETTY OLD
AND SEMMINGLY OUTDATED, BUT I AM CONFIDENT IN MY SURGEON WHO HAS A VERY
GOOD TRACK RECORD AND HAS TRAINED OTHER SURGEON TO PERFORM THIS SURGERY. I
AM A MINISTER AND I WAS INJURED A NUMBER OF YERARS AGO AND HAD TO GO INTO A
HOSPITAL IN OLD MEXICO AND IT WAS SO OUTDATED AND DIRTY. I WOULD RATHER
TAKE MY CHANCES IN AN OUT DATED USA HOSPITAL THEN IN A THIRD WORLD
COUNTRY.
IF A COMPLICATION SHOULD ARISE AND THE HOSPITAL WHERE YOUR LAP BAND IS
PERFORMED IS UNSANITARY OR DOES NOT HAVE THE MEDICAL RESOURCES AND
EQUIPMENT TO DEAL WITH YOUR COMPLICATION YOU COULD BE IN REAL BAD SHAPE OR
POSSIBLY AT GREATER RISK FOR GETTING AN INFECTION OR SOME OTHER DISEASE. OF
COURSE, THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION, I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE SURGEON YOU
HAVE IN MIND OR THE FACILITY THAT WILL BE USED. FROM MY EXPERIENCE IN A
MEXICO HOSPITAL, I WAS LITERALLY TERRIFIED AND I DON'T SCARE EASY, BUT YOU
HAD BETTER BELIEVE I WAS A PRAYING MAN AND STILL AM. IN ADDITION, WHEN YOU
REQUIRE FOLLOW UP CARE, IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION BY A LOT OF
RESEARCH THAT A LOT OF THE BARIATRIC SURGEONS KIND OF RESENT PATIENTS WHO
GO TO OTHER COUNTRIES TO HAVE THEIR SURGERY PERFORMED AND THEY MAY OR THEIR
STAFF MAY REALLY GIVE YOU THE COLD SHOULDER WHEN YOU TRY TO USE THEM FOR
FOLLOW UP CARE. THEY MAY EVEN REFUSE TO TREAT YOU. REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU
CHOOSE TO HAVE A LAP BAND PROCEDURE DONE, MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU FOR THE
LORD TO LEAD YOU AND FOR HIS HAND UPON YOU FOR A SUCCESSSFUL OUTCOME.
I HOPE I HAVE HELPED YOU IN SOME WAY. MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU
SAFE AND HEALTHY AND MAY HE ADD MANY YEARS TO YOUR LIFE AS YOU STRIVE TO
OBTAIN YOUR IMPROVED HEALTH. I PRAY YOU REACH YOUR GOAL WEIGHT AND ARE
HAPPY.
RESPECTFULLY,
REV. LEVI SIMEON BENJAMIN

There is a forum of "south of the border". You would probably get
better response there. Also each Dr had their own page on here. I went to
Dr Rumbaut in Monterrey. Very good Dr.

Why are you considering going to Mexico to receive the Lap Banding over
your RNY? When there's Surgeons here close to you who will did as you
wish.

My Surgeon, Dr.Rehnke suggests that if I stop losing weight that he'd be
able to attached the Lap Band over my RNY. His prices have also just been
reduced. If at the Palms of Pasadena, you'd stay over-night as with Journey
Lite, you'd go in the morning then go home that evening.
